Our great ancestors were acutely aware of the natural cycles of time involving the rhythms of the Earth, Sun, and Moon, as well as those of the major planets and stars. They lived their lives informed by and in accordance with these cycles. One of the simple, effective ways we can access ancient wisdom is by tracking the cycles of the Moon and the rhythms of Earth’s orientation

to the Sun – namely, the Equinoxes and Solstices.”

“A ceremony has significance because we decide it does. We deliberately marry intention with action and find ourselves walking the ancient path of ritual.” ~ James K. Papp from Inquire Within

Ceremonies can be simple or complex. Your ceremony can follow a particular tradition like the Despacho (prayer bundle) making rituals of the Peruvian Q’ero indigenous people. Jim has led Despacho making ceremonies for small and large groups in our town which have been powerful when experienced in a group. Or your ceremony can be simply lighting a candle and sending out prayers of gratitude to Mother Earth and Father Sun. Offering prayers of gratitude to people who support you or to God or Spirit, if you choose, can be a beautiful part of a small daily or weekly ceremony.

We’d love to hear how you practice ceremony. If you’d like to share a little bit, you can add a comment below or share on our Facebook page on the Happy Solstice post – www.facebook.com/InquireWithinBook

Thank you and blessings to you and yours on this solstice and beyond!
