Fall greetings!

We’re delighted to announce that James’ newest body of work, Blessings of the Waters: From Glacier to Sea, will be featured in a solo exhibit at the Jansen Art Center this fall. The show opens on Thursday, October 16 with a reception from 6 – 8 PM, and will run through January 10, 2026.

This collection explores the powerful ways water connects us all here in Washington State. From the snowfields of the Cascades to the waters of the Puget Sound, water is the connector between residents, tribes, farmers, fishers, municipalities, and industries, as well as nature’s flora and fauna. Through his lens, James captures both the beauty and the urgency of caring for these vital resources.

The inspiration comes from countless hikes along Pacific Northwest mountain streams, lakes, waterfalls, and the ocean, his 40-year career in marine shipping, and studies with Indigenous Elders. James has always been drawn to the mystery and spirit of flowing waters.

We’d love to see you at the opening reception! Come celebrate with us at the Jansen Art Center and enjoy an evening of art, community, and conversation.
